What would you advise to a 14 (soon to be 15) year old aspiring screen writer and director?

I want to be a director and a screenwriter. If I had to choose I'd be a director. What are some things I can to to jump start my career and make me stand out? Where are places I can go... good connections to make and places to start out that will help me become a well known director?
