What is a good summer camp on the East Coast?

I am looking for a good summer camp in north carolina. Something like wilderness camping tha tsort of thing. I am kind of worried about other kids not really "getting into it" and just trying to act cool and ruining the time for me. I went to one camp "Camp Herring Ridge" it was kinda fun but not really outdoarsy. Also the girls were really sepperated from the guys and some of my best friends are girls. I had a really great experience at "Wilderness Survival camp" that was in Tennesee. The other kids were really awesome and the counselers we like cool not all "you can't do that it's against the rules" "E" the only problem i had with that camp was it had a set schedule for every day. hiking one day rock climbing the next...so on so on... i would like a bit of freedom not all people telling me i can't do specific things that aren't really dangerous for me. Oh yeah i am 12..must be co-ed. THANKS I KNOW THIS IS DIFFICULT!!
