Pen and paper rpg program?`?

does anyone know of any programs that will allow u to play pen and paper rpgs like dnd or star wars over the internet with your friends. something that will allow GMs to make maps and allow the players to move there characters around kind of like if we where playing a miniatures game but over the internet.
